Composer's Note:

Who was Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved”? The woman he loved above all others. One possibility is Countess Giulietta Guicciardi, the dedicatee of his so-called “Moonlight” Sonata. Moonlighting takes musical elements from the well known, calmly serene first movement of this work and transforms them into a depiction of Beethoven in love. An expression of the passion, joy, sorrow and heartache he felt for the women he desired but could ultimately never have.
